Hair vitamins — biotin, MSM & AnaGain™

An 8-component formula: biotin 2000 µg, iron, MSM, three sulfur amino acids and patented AnaGain™ from pea sprouts.

Hair vitamins bundle the nutrients associated with normal hair into a daily dose. KeratinCell combines biotin (2000 µg), iron (10 mg), MSM, nettle extract, three sulfur amino acids and AnaGain™ Nu — a patented Swiss pea-sprout extract at its studied 100 mg dose. Two capsules daily; one can lasts 30 days.

Authorised EU health claims

Per daily dose (2 capsules): biotin 2000 µg (4000% NRV) and iron 10 mg (71% NRV) — carrying these authorised EU health claims:

  • BiotinBiotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair.
  • IronIron contributes to normal oxygen transport in the body.
  • IronIron contributes to normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin.
  • IronIron contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

The 8-component formula

Each daily dose of two capsules provides AnaGain™ Nu 100 mg, nettle extract 100 mg, MSM 100 mg (organically bound sulfur), the sulfur amino acids L-cystine, L-methionine and L-cysteine, iron 10 mg (71% NRV) and biotin 2000 µg (4000% NRV). Sulfur amino acids are natural building blocks that occur in the human body — keratin, the hair protein, is rich in them.

AnaGain™ from pea sprouts

AnaGain™ Nu is a water-soluble extract of organically grown pea sprouts (Pisum sativum), developed by Mibelle Biochemistry in Switzerland. In published research it has been studied for its effect on FGF7 and Noggin gene expression in the dermal papilla — signalling associated with the hair follicle’s growth phase. KeratinCell uses 100 mg per daily dose, the amount used in the published pilot study; this is a mechanism under study, not a consumer outcome.

Dosage and realistic expectations

Two small capsules daily, with a meal and plenty of liquid; one can of 60 capsules covers 30 days. Hair grows in cycles, so meaningful evaluation takes time — a three-month course is the sensible window, and many users keep an eye on their nails first simply because nails grow faster. The capsule shell is plant-based HPMC, suitable for vegetarians; every batch is independently lab-tested.

Published research

One peer-reviewed clinical pilot on the pea-sprout extract has been published — described neutrally:

  • Grothe, Wandrey & Schuerch (2020)

Short-communication pilot clinical study (n=21) of oral pea-sprout extract, reporting on hair parameters and FGF7/Noggin expression. A small, manufacturer-authored pilot.

Frequently asked

What does KeratinCell contain?

Eight components per 2-capsule daily dose: biotin 2000 µg, iron 10 mg, AnaGain™ Nu 100 mg, MSM 100 mg, nettle extract 100 mg and the sulfur amino acids L-cystine, L-methionine and L-cysteine.

When should I expect to see anything?

Hair needs patience: its growth cycle means a fair evaluation takes around three months of consistent use. Nails grow faster, which is why many users notice changes there first — we make no promises about either.

Why do the capsules smell slightly of sulfur?

The scent comes from the plant-based sulfur sources — MSM, nettle and pea-sprout extract. There are no artificial flavourings to mask it; it is a sign of unperfumed ingredients.

Is KeratinCell vegan?

It is vegetarian: the capsule shell is plant-based HPMC cellulose and the formula is free from gelatine, gluten and lactose.

Why is my urine bright yellow after taking it?

That is a normal, harmless effect of high-dose B vitamins such as biotin — the surplus is water-soluble and leaves the body via urine.

A note on claimsThe statements above are health claims authorised under Regulation (EU) 432/2012 for biotin and iron at the amounts this product provides. AnaGain™, MSM, nettle extract and the sulfur amino acids carry no authorised EU claims — they are described above as ingredients, not as promises.
