Omega-3 capsules — EPA & DHA from fish oil or algae
Two routes to EPA and DHA — IFOS-certified fish oil in natural TG form, or vegan life’sOMEGA® algal oil.
Omega-3 capsules supply the essential fatty acids EPA and DHA, which the body cannot produce itself. BMPHARMA offers both sources: high-strength fish oil in natural triglyceride form (500 mg EPA + 250 mg DHA per capsule, IFOS-certified) and vegan life’sOMEGA® algal oil (600 mg DHA + 200 mg EPA per daily serving).
Authorised EU health claims
Both products deliver at least 250 mg EPA+DHA (and 250 mg DHA) per daily serving — the intake the EU register ties these authorised claims to:
- EPA + DHAEPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart.
- DHADHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function.
- DHADHA contributes to the maintenance of normal vision.
- Vitamin EVitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Fish oil or algal oil?
Both deliver EPA and DHA; the difference is source and ratio. The fish-oil capsules are EPA-led (500 mg EPA, 250 mg DHA per capsule), made from sustainably caught Peruvian anchovies. The algal capsules are DHA-led (600 mg DHA, 200 mg EPA per 2-capsule serving) and fully plant-based — the choice for vegans and anyone avoiding fish.
The fish oil: TG form, IFOS-certified
The fish oil comes in the natural triglyceride (TG) form — the structure omega-3 has in fish, as opposed to synthetic ethyl esters. It is IFOS-certified, an internationally recognised standard covering purity, heavy metals, PCBs, dioxins and oxidation, and each capsule adds 2 mg vitamin E. One capsule daily with a meal; no fishy burps, no aftertaste.
The algal oil: straight to the source
Fish do not produce omega-3 themselves — they accumulate it from algae. life’sOMEGA® (dsm-firmenich) goes directly to that source: EPA and DHA from fermented Schizochytrium microalgae grown in controlled, land-based systems, free from marine contaminants. The softgel shell is plant-based, with no gelatine; two capsules daily.
Frequently asked
Fish oil or algal oil — which should I choose?
Both provide EPA and DHA. Choose the algal oil if you want a vegan product or avoid fish; choose the fish oil if you prefer an EPA-led ratio (500 mg EPA per capsule) with IFOS-certified purity.
What does triglyceride (TG) form mean?
TG is the natural structure of omega-3 as it occurs in fish. Many concentrates use synthetic ethyl esters (EE) instead; this fish oil keeps the triglyceride form.
What is IFOS?
IFOS (International Fish Oil Standards) is an independent certification programme for fish oil that tests purity, heavy metals, PCBs, dioxins and oxidation, batch by batch.
Will I get fishy burps?
No. The fish oil is fresh, in TG form and lab-tested for oxidation — no fishy burps or aftertaste. The algal capsules contain no fish at all.
How do I dose the capsules?
Fish oil: 1 capsule daily with a meal (60 capsules = 2 months). Algal oil: 2 capsules daily (60 capsules = 1 month).
Are the capsules vegan?
The algal-oil capsules are — plant-based softgel, no gelatine. The fish-oil softgel contains gelatine and is not vegan.
A note on claimsThe statements above are health claims authorised under Regulation (EU) 432/2012. The heart claim applies from 250 mg EPA+DHA daily, the brain and vision claims from 250 mg DHA daily — both products meet these conditions at the recommended serving. The vitamin E claim refers to the fish-oil formula (2 mg D-alpha-tocopherol per capsule). Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
