Full ingredient listAnaGain™ Nu is a pea-sprout extract studied as an oral ingredient for hair. KeratinCell supplies 100 mg per day, the amount used in an eight-week pilot study completed by 21 participants. The extract was taken in a drink, with no placebo group. The study concerned the ingredient, not the full KeratinCell formula; the product FAQ links to the publication.
KeratinCell uses an extract of Urtica dioica leaves containing 1% beta-sitosterol, a plant sterol. The daily serving provides 100 mg nettle extract, including 1 mg beta-sitosterol. This states what the extract supplies, rather than just the weight of nettle leaves.
Beta-sitosterol belongs to the plant sterols, a group of fat-like substances found in plants. Here it comes from the nettle-leaf extract. Its 1 mg daily amount is already included in the 100 mg extract, not added on top.
MSM stands for methylsulphonylmethane, a compound containing sulfur. KeratinCell provides 100 mg per daily serving. It sits alongside three sulfur-containing amino acids, whose names and separate amounts are shown in the composition table.
Cystine consists of two cysteine units linked by a sulfur bond. Such bonds help stabilise keratin, the protein in hair. KeratinCell provides L-cystine as an ingredient alongside L-cysteine; the daily serving contains 100 mg of each.
Cysteine is an amino acid, a building block of proteins including the keratin in hair. It contains sulfur, which can form links between cysteine units. KeratinCell supplies 100 mg L-cysteine per daily serving alongside cystine and methionine.
Methionine is an essential amino acid: your body cannot make it, so it must come from your diet. It is a sulfur-containing building block of proteins. KeratinCell provides 100 mg per daily serving in the L-form found in food proteins.
Iron contributes to normal oxygen transport and normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin. KeratinCell supplies 10 mg per daily serving as iron bisglycinate, in which iron is bound to the amino acid glycine.
